Pilot 2

Norwegian Pilot: Skagerak Energy Lab

This pilot will be deployed at the Skagerak Energy Lab - a football stadium and facility where energy solutions are tried and tested. The site combines an 800kW photovoltaic plant with a 1MWh Battery Energy Storage System and power electronics.

The scheme has several operational modes for the unit, including fully islanded operation. The adjacent area includes several commercial and household end users and several electric vehicle charging stations.

Two local assets will underlie the eNeuron demonstation: the actual stadium as a physical entity and the usage of the eTransport tool – a long-term optimisation tool used for designing and operating mutli-carrier systems through a user-friendly graphic interface.

These high-TRL assets will be used to study:

  • Using eTransport for operational optimisation of the installation in different modes
  • Using eTransport for development and compartive evaluation of alternative expansions of the installation by using additional energy vectors, which would allow RES-based generation
to be maximised, and secure reliable power supply to be maintained
  • Input to further development of eTransport based on data and learnings from the demonstration
