FOREWORD

After four years of collaboration and dedication, eNeuron has reached its conclusion. It's been an incredible journey, showcasing the power of innovation in the energy sector and laying the groundwork for more efficient local energy communities!

A key milestone in eNeuron's journey is our final event in Brussels and online. You can still register to join us virtually! This hybrid conference will highlight our key achievements, use cases, and future opportunities for sustainable energy communities in Europe.

As we end this journey, we invite you to explore eNeuron's legacy through

• our best practices book, offering valuable strategies for implementing Integrated Local Energy Communities (ILECs) and overcoming technical, financial, and regulatory challenges
• our info packs highlighting important milestones of our journey
• our video tutorial for eNeuron toolbox, demonstrating how the toolbox can simplify the management and operations of local energy communities.

We are happy to have contributed to the collective mission of making the energy sector more decentralised and environmentally friendly.

While eNeuron may be ending, our commitment to maximising the potential of energy communities remains strong as we support Europe’s energy transition. Do not miss our final event coverage—stay updated on our website, LinkedIn, and Twitter!

Have a good reading,

The eNeuron team

On January 21, 2025, from 10:00 to 13:30 CET, the eNeuron project will host its final event—a hybrid conference exploring achievements, use cases, and future opportunities for sustainable energy communities in Europe.

Held in person at the Euregio Tyrol-South Tyrol headquarters (45-47 Rue de Pascale, Brussels) and online, the event will feature:

• A welcome by Dr. Maria Valenti (eNeuron Coordinator, ENEA).
• Expert insights from Dr. Christina Papadimitriou (Eindhoven University of Technology) and Mr. Jose Oliveira (ENEIDA).
• A roundtable moderated by Dr. Venizelos Efthymiou (FOSS, University of Cyprus), featuring speakers from academia, industry, and sister projects.

Complimentary refreshments and a light lunch will be provided.

Join the conversation on the future of energy communities—discover the agenda!

The energy transition calls for innovative solutions to optimize and expand local energy systems. On January 23, 2025, at 3:00 PM CET, join us for an engaging webinar where experts from the eNeuron project will share strategies for scaling and replicating integrated local energy communities (ILECs).

This webinar will explore the replicability and scalability of local energy systems, providing a platform for participants to engage with key insights and discuss how to maximize the impact of these innovative solutions.

The eNeuron project’s best practices book guides the implementation of Integrated Local Energy Communities. It covers European policies, technical integration, financial barriers, and community engagement.

Drawing on successful models, it offers strategies, lessons, and methodologies for overcoming challenges, emphasizing impact assessments for scalable, sustainable solutions.

The book provides a roadmap to support the energy transition and foster decentralized energy systems across Europe.

The EU-funded eNeuron project offers tools and resources to optimize integrated local energy communities (ILECs).

Four info packs share key insights: designing self-sufficient energy systems across pilot sites, 12 use cases for diverse contexts, real-world innovations in Madrid and Bilbao, and the scalability of key results using the SGAM framework.

These resources support efficient, sustainable energy communities across Europe.

One of eNeuron’s goals is to design a toolbox to better harness and manage energy systems in local multi-carrier environments.

But how does it actually work? What are its main features, and how will it improve household energy efficiency?

Find out in our latest video tutorial. Learn about the tools tested in Italy, Norway, Poland, and Portugal that make energy management easier, consider environmental and cost goals, and help inform policy decisions.
